Ryan Smith: Chief Executive Officer

Ryan Smith joined Memorial Hospital in 2011. Smith began his career in health care as a custodian in a hospital in high school. He has worked as the Chief Financial Officer for hospitals in Kentucky, Wyoming, Alaska and Utah, and most recently as the CEO at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna, Alaska. As CEO at Memorial Hospital, Smith's emphasis is on the "patient experience," maintaining that, if we are able to get that piece of healthcare right, the rest will fall into place. Ryan received his bachelor's degree in Accounting and Master's in Business Administration from the University of Utah. He and his wife, Sharon, have 3 children. Ryan enjoys fishing, hunting, running, traveling and spending time with family.

Dr. James Morgan: Chief Medical Officer

James (Jim) Morgan, MD, serves as a liaison between the medical staff and administration, and is also responsible for coordination of patient care and safety, as well as all provider recruitment efforts at Memorial Hospital and its clinics.

Dr. Morgan first came to Douglas in 1982 while moonlighting in Douglas' ER as a family practice resident at Casper's Wyoming Medical Center. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Morgan worked in Sundance, Wyo., before moving to Douglas in 1985. Dr. Morgan ran a successful independent practice in Douglas before joining the staff at Memorial Hospital. He and his wife, Maureen, raised 3 children in Douglas and have many pets. Dr. Morgan enjoys fly fishing, recreational flying, and spending time with family and friends.

Curt Dugger, CHFP: Chief Financial Officer

Curt Dugger oversees all of the revenue cycle staff as well as materials management and health information management. A Wyoming native, Dugger graduated from the University of Wyoming with his bachelor's degree in accounting and began working in the banking industry. He spent a short time as a financial planner before accepting the CFO position at Washakie Medical Center in Worland, Wyo. In 1998, Dugger joined Memorial Hospital as its CFO. Dugger and his wife, Cathy, have 2 adult children, Chris and Cadi. Dugger is the certification chairman and past president of the Healthcare Financial Management Association of Wyoming and enjoys hunting, golf, bowling and camping.

Linda York: Human Resources Director

Linda York oversees human resources and recruiting, and coordinates healthcare travelers and housing. A Douglas native, York first worked as a credit reporter before taking a position as a file clerk at Memorial Hospital in 1977. She enjoys volunteering, photography, scrapbooking and spending time with her family. She has 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren.

Karl Hertz: Assistant Hospital Administrator

Karl Hertz oversees all marketing, public relations and community development for the hospital.  He is also responsible for maintenance, environmental services, nutrition services, volunteer services, childcare services, laboratory and imaging.  Karl coordinates all construction and remodeling projects and works closely with other senior leaders to develop leadership training curriculum for the hospital. 

Karl started in 2011 as the marketing and recruitment manager at Memorial Hospital. Before joining the hospital, Hertz worked as a district executive for the Boy Scouts of America and operated the Hertz Funeral Homes in southwestern Iowa. Hertz has a broad background in community development, EMS and fire service. In 2012, Hertz accepted the position as the assistant hospital administrator. 

Karl and his wife, Teresa, have 3 children and enjoy camping, traveling, hiking and watching their kids' sporting events.

Cristy Cobb: Chief Nursing Officer

Cristy Cobb is responsible for overseeing and coordinating Memorial Hospital’s nursing department and its daily operations.

Cobb received her ADSN from Casper College in Casper Wyoming, her BSN from the University of New Mexico and her MSN from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minn. Before joining Memorial Hospital in the fall of 2012, Cobb spent 18 years as a nurse at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper where she most recently worked as a Senior Clinical Manager in the Emergency Department. Cobb enjoys helping people become more than they think they can be and helping to remove barriers to help clinicians give the best, consistent care possible.

Away from work, Cobb enjoys running, family boating and participating in her church's marriage encounter program. She and her husband, Jim, have six children, which leads to her other pastime of laundry.

Joy Johnson: Pharmacy Director

Joy Johnson oversees all pharmacy functions, such as selections of, ordering/prescribing of, and preparing/dispensing of medications. Johnson is also involved with several hospital committees involving medications and medication safety, physician order sets, and coordination of Memorial Hospital's ePharmacy program.

Johnson is a graduate of the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy and also has a bachelor of science degree in microbiology. Before joining Memorial Hospital in 2000, Johnson managed a Home IV Infusion pharmacy serving the states of Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. She has also worked as a staff pharmacist for Wyoming Medical Center and Safeway supermarket. Johnson and her husband, Brad, enjoy the company of their dogs, volunteering, reading and watching their family tend to their small vineyard.

Terry Moss: Practice Administrator

Terry Moss oversees the daily operations of Memorial Hospital's 3 medical clinics and is responsible for the hospital-employed physician group.

Moss graduated from Pinedale High School and received a bachelor of science in Communications and a minor in Public Relations and Education from the University of Wyoming. Staying true to the Wyoming brown and gold, he worked as the Director of Media for the University of Wyoming for several years before relocating to Colorado. Once in Colorado, he worked for Community Hospital of Grand Junction as the Vice President of Doctors Clinic Building. He also served as a city councilman for the City of Fruita and chaired the Parks and Rec committee that successfully brought a recreation center and library to Fruita. Most recently, he was employed as the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Practice Administrator for Western Valley Family Practice, a multi-site and after-hours care clinic. Terry's background involves improving clinic efficiency within the healthcare system. He believes in patient engagement and community outreach to forward patient care.

Terry and his wife, Cory, have 2 children and 2 dogs. They enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends, and are avid Wyoming fans.

Kathy Summers: Cardiopulmonary Director

Kathy Summers oversees all inpatient and outpatient respiratory therapy and cardio therapy programs as well as all cardiac and respiratory function testing and sleep studies.

Summers started working in the lab and x-ray department at Memorial Hospital of Converse County while still attending Douglas High School. She continued to work summers as a student at the University of Wyoming and graduated from Respiratory Therapy School in Rock Springs, Wyo. She returned to Memorial Hospital as a certified respiratory therapist and has been part of the respiratory therapy department ever since. Summers and her husband, Leonard, have 2 children and 5 grandchildren. Kathy enjoys gardening, boating on the lake and spending time with her grandchildren.

Dave Patterson: Chief Information Officer

Dave Patterson is the chief information officer (CIO) at Memorial Hospital of Converse County as well as the project manager for the hospital's electronic medical record (EMR) implementation. In addition to his daily IS duties, Patterson oversees all IS purchases, negotiates IS support contracts, prioritizes and facilitates all IS related projects and coordinates the various data systems within Memorial Hospital. He has worked at Memorial Hospital since 2000 in a number of IS-related positions, and was named CIO in 2011.

Patterson and his wife, Lisa, have 4 sons that keep them busy with various school and sports activities. In his down time he enjoys reading, home improvement, gaming, and spending time with his family and their rescued greyhounds.

Jerrie Root: Business Office Director

Jerrie Root is responsible for the oversight of all physician and hospital billing as well as billing for Memorial Hospital EMS.

Root started in data processing at Memorial Hospital in 1998. Soon after, the hospital began a collaborative hospital information system project with Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, and she was asked to work with WMC to build all of the dictionaries and system files related to billing and accounts receivable that Memorial Hospital would need to use this system. When the business office later adopted the Clarus information system, Root was named billing supervisor and later business office manager. In 2010, the hospital implemented the Meditech and LSS information systems that merged patient billing with the EMR, and Root oversaw the build and set up of her 3rd and 4th billing system at Memorial Hospital. In 2012, she was named business office director.

Root and her husband, Dr. Buck Root, have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. When she is not working at Memorial Hospital, she keeps busy helping her husband with his practice at Riverbend Veterinary Hospital and caring for her home and family.

Barb Pickinpaugh: Health Information Management Director

Barb Pickinpaugh is responsible for maintaining all patient records at the hospital.

Pickinpaugh started as a unit secretary on the patient floor in 1981, later working as a clerk in the medical records office and then as a coder. In 1990, she accepted the manager position in health information management (HIM). Pickinpaugh and her husband, Ken, share 3 children and 4 grandchildren. Barb enjoys gardening and spending time with her family.

Marvin Sik: Materials Management Director

Marvin Sik oversees all departmental activities and personnel in purchasing and central supply. Sik is responsible for contract negotiations, purchasing and delivery of all hospital supplies, delivery of those supplies to departments within the hospital, budgeting, and inventory of all hospital equipment and supplies. He started in 2009 as manager of purchasing at Memorial Hospital and was named director in 2012. Sik and his wife, Brenda, have 3 children and enjoy camping, football and hockey.

Eric VanOsdol: Building Maintenance Director

Eric VanOsdol oversees all of the maintenance and repairs for the hospital and its outpatient clinics, negotiates service contracts, purchase contracts, and coordinates construction projects throughout the buildings.

VanOsdol started in the bio-med department at Memorial Hospital in 2004 and was responsible for repairing all clinical and non-clinical equipment. In 2011, he accepted the maintenance manager position and in 2012 was named department director. VanOsdol has two sons and loves his work. When he gets a chance, he enjoys camping, hunting, hiking and working out at the gym.

Denise Lyons: Foundation Director

Denise Lyons joined Converse County Memorial Hospital Foundation in 2013 as Foundation Director. Lyons was the Corporate and Community Relations Manager for a non-profit in Salem, Ore. Her background includes Volunteer Management, Special Event Management, Strategic Development, and Public Relations. One of the most important objectives as Foundation Director will be community development, education and fundraising. She is originally from North Dakota and is pleased to be back in the Midwest. Denise enjoys spending her time with family and enjoying the great outdoors.

Linda Holden: Radiology Director

Linda K. Holden oversees all inpatient and outpatient radiography examinations as well as MRI, ultrasounds and the women's studies area for mammography.

Holden began her career at the Memorial/DePaul School of x-ray technology in Cheyenne before Laramie County Community College was established. While she was the director of Cheyenne's DePaul Hospital radiology department, Holden completed her Associate of Applied Science degree in radiography and went on to finish her Bachelor's degree in Medical Imaging Management and her Master's degree in Health Science Administration from Regis University. Before coming to Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas, Holden was the manager of an imaging center in Casper. She spent 15 years at Laramie County Community College teaching radiography and ultrasonography before returning to patient care. Linda has 1 daughter and together they are writing a children's book. Holden also enjoys her 2 Westies as well as working on her house and yard, volunteering and making an occasional visit to Deadwood.

Tom Holt: Director of Population Health

As the Director of Population Health, Holt aims to improve the overall health of Memorial Hospital staff and their families in an effort to reduce healthcare costs for the individuals and the organization.

Holt received his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Physical Education Teaching and Coaching and Health and Physical Education/ Fitness from the University of Wyoming. He went on to earn his Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of South Florida.

Holt is a nutritionist, teacher and coach who most recently served as the Instructional Facilitator at Converse County School District #1 and is a Nutrition Instructor at Eastern Wyoming College.

 

Felicia Smith: Director of Hospitality Services

Felicia Smith oversees Food Services, Environmental Services, and  Mocha Molly’s Gourmet Coffee Shop at Memorial Hospital. She is also the 2015 Wyoming and National Association of Nutrition and Food Service Professionals CDM of the Year.

Smith has over 20 years of food service experience ranging from owning a restaurant, managing a restaurant, and holding every position in food service in long-term care, including Dietary Manager. She is Servsafe Certified, and certified to teach and proctor the Servsafe Course and exams. She has a Master’s degree in Health Care Administration with a concentration in Gerontology. Smith has proctored several students for the Nutrition and Food Service precertification course.

She is currently serving as the Wyoming Association of Nutrition and Food Service Professionals Wyoming State President and serves as one of 3 Directors at Large on the ANFP National Board. Felicia also serves as the fundraising leader fundraising leader for King’s Portion Food Pantry Board of Directors, and is a foster parent for Laramie Peak Humane Society.

In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors and spending time with family and pets.

Anna Cobb: Laboratory Director

Anna Cobb is responsible for all laboratory testing throughout the hospital and its clinics and oversees 11 nationally certified lab techs and phlebotomists. The lab is available 24 hours a day, and Memorial Hospital completes 95 percent of all testing in-house.

After graduating from Douglas High School, Cobb attended Casper College and then the University of Wyoming to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology. She later moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where she received her Master’s in Clinical Laboratory Science. She returned to Wyoming and proceeded to work in Casper and Cheyenne before returning to Douglas and Memorial Hospital.

Cobb enjoys spending time with her three kids, two boys and a girl, and being with her family now that they’re all in Douglas. She also enjoys quilting and reading in her spare time.

Frank Wiederrecht: Chief Culture Officer

Frank Wiederrecht is responsible for promoting our mission, vision and values to current and prospective employees and the community. He also coordinates our Spiritual Care and Ambassador programs.

Wiederrecht came to us in 2012 after 30 years in pastoral ministry. He holds Bachelor’s degrees in Anthropology and Religion from the University of Iowa, and a Master’s degree from Dallas Theological Seminary. He also pastors a local non-denominational church. 

Wiederrecht is an avid snowboarder, hiker, and yoga enthusiast. He’s hiked in Yellowstone National Park, and through the Lesser Caucasus mountains—climbing many peaks, and even the Great Pyramid in Egypt. 

He’s been married to his wife, Ann, for over 35 years. They have 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren. 

Robynn Scheele: Director of Emergency Services

As the Director of Emergency Services, Robynn Scheele oversees Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department as well as the Douglas and Glenrock EMS departments.

Scheele graduated from Casper College with her Associate’s Degree in Nursing in May 1998. She then received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix and later her Master’s Degree in Nursing from Chamberlain University in Chicago. Scheele has since completed the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Chamberlain University and is currently waiting to sit for her boards.

Scheele has 4 children and 5 grandchildren, with number 6 and 7 on the way! Besides spoiling her grandchildren, her hobbies include gardening, traveling, camping, fishing and shopping.

Missy Swanson: Quality Director

As the Director of Quality, Missy provides leadership, strategic guidance, and management direction for the hospital's Quality and Performance programs.  

Missy moved from Texas to Wyoming 12 years ago. She graduated from Casper College in 2007 with her Associate's Degree in Nursing and began working at Memorial Hospital as a nurse on the Med-Surg floor. Missy has worked as a Med-Surg staff nurse, charge nurse, house supervisor and Med-Surg manager while at Memorial Hospital. She received her Bachelor's degree in Nursing in 2015 and is currently working towards a Master's degree in Education.  

Missy and her husband have 2 children. Her biggest accomplishment is running the BolderBoulder, one of the most highly acclaimed 10k's in the world, in 2013. She will be running it again this year over Memorial Day weekend. She is also a yellow belt in Taekwondo. 

Curtis Schmidt: Compliance & Privacy Officer/Technical Operations Specialist

Curtis is responsible for compliance issues and concerns within Memorial Hospital and making sure all employees are in compliance of the current policies and procedures. Curtis also serves as a Technical Operations Specialist and works with the Information Services Department as a project lead on numerous IS applications and builds. 

He received Bachelor of Science degrees in Medical Technology and Microbiology from the University of Wyoming in Laramie. His hobbies include anything golf, being outdoors, camping, boating, spending time with family and friends, University of Wyoming athletics, adventures on his  motorcycle and traveling.
