The Birthing Center

Comfort and Security Await
Upon admission, moms and dads are escorted to one of two LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Post-partum) suites. Each suite was designed with the birthing mother’s comfort in mind featuring warm wood furnishings and soothing colors that create a homey, relaxed environment. The suites offer all the comforts of home including a private bathroom with its own shower, a sleeper chair for mom’s support person, a cozy rocking chair for holding and feeding baby, and a TV to help pass the time waiting for the arrival of that precious baby. A comfortable birthing bed reveals advanced medical monitoring equipment to ensure labor is progressing smoothly.

Have it Your Way
Having a baby is a very personal experience – one that is dreamed about, carefully thought out, and planned for months. Memorial Hospital of Converse County provides expectant mothers with several birthing and comfort options, allowing mothers to choose the kind of birth experience they want.

We Are Here
Labor can be a long journey. Mothers will be attended by their own, highly trained perinatal nurse, who will work closely with the board certified doctor and the laboring mother to make sure that labor is progressing safely. Nurses will help the women through the birthing process encouraging them to walk, rock, take warm showers or relax in our whirlpool hot tub designed specifically for the comfort of laboring women. MHCC offers about any method available for pain control, include epidural anesthesia which is available 24 hours a day.

Post-Partum Care
After the birth, the baby will be thoroughly examined and cared for by Pediatrician, Dr. Kinbrook, or the family practitioner of your choice. During mom’s recovery, mom and baby can ‘room in’ together 24 hours a day in their cozy home away from home. Dad can visit anytime or remain with mom and baby throughout their stay if he chooses. Visitors are welcome to come and get to know the new addition to the family. Finally, if mom needs rest, the nursing staff is available to take care of the baby in the nursery.

Taking Family Home
The nurses will spend time teaching mom how to care for their new baby to make the transition from hospital to home a comfortable secure one. Mothers should plan to take advantage of this time to be nurtured, cared for, and taught.
Please ask your physician about a tour of the facility.
