Believe it or not, yes! The Organ Trail Zombie 5k is meant to be a bit of Halloween season fun. We have had every age present, from toddlers in strollers to senior citizens and every age in between participate so far.
I Don't Run, Can I Walk Instead?
Absolutely! At Memorial Hospital of Converse County we encourage healthy lifestyles and being active. If your activity levels include walking and you can safely complete the 5k you should sign up! (Of course check with your provider before taking on any strenuous activities or exercise regimens!)
What Does The Course Look Like?
Check out our map here below. We will have specific course instructions lined out for registrants.
I Don't Want To Be Chased, Any Way Around That?
There sure is. We have two levels: Green and Orange. When you register you pick the level you want. Green bands send a visual to our zombies not to engage or give chase. If you select Orange you are indicating you are wanting a more intense experience.
How Much Does It Cost?
Here's how the registration costs breakout:
- $20 Adults
- $50 Family (2 adults, up to 3 kids)
- $10 Students (12th grade and down)
- 6 years and younger are free (but do not receive a t-shirt)
Each person who registers receives:
2019 Organ Trail Zombie 5K T-shirt, Finishers Medal, Selection of a Cheeseburger or Hotdog and sides from our Arbor Café, a Survivor’s Swag Bag Health Kit with custom water bottle, and an entrance into the post-race Decontamination Party!
What are Zombies and what are their rules?
All of our zombies are Middle School and High School volunteers. The zombies’ goal is to slowly move and pull the runner/walkers’ caution tape flags as the survivors pass by. Zombies will be pre-placed before the start along the course in one of the many zombie zones. Zombies can only use 1 arm and 1 leg at a time to move (e.g., drag one leg and use one arm to grab flags of runners going by). This is a fun run/walk and is not competitive and will not be timed. Runner/walkers and Zombies must stay on the designated course.
Can I attack or Will I get attacked?:
No direct or intentional contact with another survivor or zombie is permitted (course monitors will be present). Zombies can go after runners' (Caution Tape) flags but cannot grab body parts, completely impede passage, or tackle. Runners cannot push other runners into zombies. No fake (or real) weapons allowed. Violators of this rule will be asked to leave the event.
What If I Want To Be A Zombie Instead?
