2019 MHCC Block Party Promises to Be A Blast!

“At the time as the Assistant Hospital Administrator I knew we wanted to have some type of community celebration which tied in with the Jackalope Days event, and so the Big Summer Block Party was born,” said Karl Hertz Interim CEO of Memorial Hospital of Converse County. “I have always been impressed with Converse County Bank’s Hot Summer Night in the Park and so we modeled our event after their success. It is always a great time and we see thousands of our patients each year at the Party.”

The event consistently provides food from our Arbor Cafe, beverages from Mocha Molly’s, inflatables and games for kids of all ages, and new this year is the inclusion of even more of our community into the Block Party. Population Health Director Tom Holt has assisted with reaching out even more to the Douglas Community with coordinating the inclusion of various non-profit organizations.

“This year we are expanding the Block Party to involve even more segments of the community. We are extending an invitation for non-profit organizations in the community to promote (for free) their organization,” said Holt via email. “This event consistently brings over 1,200 people each year, and is a great way for these bedrock community services to be seen and heard!”

We love the adventure of redefining hometown care in our communities and being able to provide the block party is just one facet of how we like to approach this ongoing relationship. Hospitality Director, Felicia Smith concluded on a note of excitement reminding us of our longevity in producing the event: “I am excited as this is our 5th year of the Block Party!” And this is an event we consistently look forward to each year!

Please mark your calendars to join us this Sunday, June 9th and get to know your hometown care providers and staff! And maybe get a burger or a hot dog!
