All Aces at Annual ANFP Conference for MHCC Food Service Staff
It’s no secret, our staff at both the Arbor Cafe and Mocha Molly’s has helped to redefine what we think when we hear the words “hospital food”. And this is thanks in no small part to the involvement, training, education and networking they do at conferences throughout the year and here at home. This week our own Toni Skaggs was honored with an ACE Award at the annual ANFP Conference in St. Louis, Missouri. The ANFP stands for the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals and has chapters throughout the United States. According to their mission statement the ANFP helps members who "work in hospitals, long-term care, schools, correctional facilities, and other non-commercial foodservice settings. The association provides foodservice reference, publications and resources, employment services for members, continuing education and professional development, and certification programs. ANFP monitors industry trends and legislative issues, and publishes one of the industry's most respected magazines."
The Horizon Award was given to Skaggs on June 27th and is in recognition a newer CDM that has not only implemented but they have learnt but also has become a role model or volunteer in ANFP. Toni Skaggs, in addition to coordinating and managing Mocha Molly’s in our lobby, is the ANFP Chapter President in Wyoming. This is the second year for the Award. And last year the award was given to none other than, Robin Hilbird-Bardgett who is a Supervisor for the Arbor Cafe. That makes Wyoming and our organization two for two! "I am super proud of both of them,” stated Hospitality Coordinator Felicia Masterson Smith who as well attended the ANFP event in Saint Louis. "This is the 2nd year the award has been given and Robin won it last year and Toni this year. So Wyoming is currently the only recipient of this award.”
We wish congratulations to Toni, and as well Robin, and hope they have a great time at the ANFP conference and all have safe travels back to Wyoming!
