Felicia Smith Awarded Citizen of the Year
We recognize at Memorial Hospital of Converse County that so often it is the people who truly make a difference not only in our organization but our greater community. As Walt Disney once said, "You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality." And that quote becomes a great deal clearer when we look upon our own staff, who work tirelessly not just to make their own part of the world shine, but seek to make a difference wherever they go.
Recently one of our staff members was so recognized with deserved praise. And we couldn't be prouder. Felicia Smith, Director of Hospitality Services, was awarded the Citizen of the Year Award by The Enterprise. We reached out to Felicia to get her thoughts on being recognized for what she does and see just what that award meant to her! Read her responses below:
1.) What was your reaction when you found out about your nomination and award?
I was embarrassed and deeply honored.
2.) What does this recognition mean to you?
I was a great honor, there are so many amazing people in our community that do so many great things, so to be chosen was a huge surprise and honor.
3.) What was the evening like at the awards banquet?
The Enterprise banquet was very nice, they honored a great group of organizations and individuals. It is great to see a community supporting such great role models.
4.) If you could say anything to those who nominated you and awarded you this distinction, what would you say?
I would say thank you very much from the bottom of my heart. I don't do the things I do for recognition, I love helping people and giving back to the community that has been so good to me. I am deeply honored that whoever nominated believes I make a difference. I truly believe we are meant to give to others.
5.) Where is your award living now?
I have the lovely award in my office!
Please join our entire organization in recognizing Felicia for the tremendous person she is, and how she gives so effortlessly to those around her! Congratulations once more!
