Memorial Hospital of Converse County is the first and only surgical center in Wyoming to offer the da Vinci® Si™ Surgical System in their operating room. The da Vinci® Si™ has several unique features designed to provide additional clinical benefits and efficiency in the operating room, including the ability to perform select surgeries from a single incision in the patient’s bellybutton.

Together, these technological advancements provide our surgeons with unparalleled precision, dexterity and control that enable a minimally invasive approach for many complex surgical procedures. Commenting on the introduction of the da Vinci Si System, CEO Ryan Smith said, “We believe that the new features of the da Vinci Si System will help us provide the best possible outcomes and is proof of our commitment to provide our community access to the latest advancements in minimally invasive surgery.”

da Vinci’s advanced level of technology takes surgery beyond the limits of the human hands and furthers the hospital’s goal of extending minimally invasive surgery to the broadest possible base of patients. While the hospital plans to focus their robotic surgery program on GYN and general abdominal procedures, other surgeons from around the region have already contacted Memorial Hospital about performing their own surgeries in Douglas using the new system. The da Vinci Si System can be used for a multitude of procedures, including but not limited to: prostatectomy, hysterectomy, myomectomy, coronary artery bypass, mitral valve repair and colorectal surgery.

The hospital will hold a Robotic Surgery Open House on Friday, June 28th in the main hospital lobby, 111 South 5th Street, Douglas, from 10 AM to 3 PM. During that time, the public is welcome to see firsthand how the surgical robot works and try their skills at a simulated surgery. Surgeons and providers are invited to attend the open house from 4 to 6 PM that same day.
