The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates more than 100 million U.S. adults are now living with diabetes or pre-diabetes, that includes 8.3% of all Wyoming adults. Addressing diabetes in our communities is no small task. It involves assessing the current lifestyle of our patients and then working alongside each individual to create a customizable treatment plan that works for them.
Navigating all the elements of diabetic care takes expertly trained providers like Dr. Kathryn Skuza, Wyoming's only Pediatric Endocrinologist, and Ashley Littleton, Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetic Educator. Together, along with Memorial Hospital's other primary care providers, they have developed a diabetic treatment network to ensure patients with pre-diabetes and diabetes receive the care, training and education needed to live their lives to the fullest.
"There is an increasing number of patients who have diabetes," Littleton said. "We really want to be a resource for them. We want the program to be all-encompassing and support them throughout their life."
