Congratulations! There may be nothing more exciting than preparing for your new baby. And at Memorial Hospital of Converse County, we realize the birth of your child is a very personal experience—one that is dreamed about, carefully thought out and planned for months.
Upon admission, moms and dads are escorted to one of three labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum suites. Each suite was designed with the birthing mother's comfort in mind. They feature warm wood furnishings and soothing colors that create a homey, relaxed environment. The suites offer all the comforts of home, including a private bathroom with its own shower, a sleeper chair for mom's support person, a cozy rocking chair for holding and feeding the baby, and a TV to help pass the time waiting. A comfortable birthing bed features advanced medical monitoring equipment to ensure labor is progressing smoothly.
Labor can be a long journey. Mom will be attended to by her own highly trained perinatal nurse, who will work closely with both mom and her provider to make sure that labor is progressing safely. Nurses will help mom through the birthing process, encouraging her to walk, rock, take warm showers or relax in our whirlpool hot tub. Memorial Hospital offers nearly every method available for pain control including epidural anesthesia, which is available 24 hours a day.
After birth, baby will be thoroughly examined and cared for by the family provider or pediatrician of your choice in the state of Wyoming. During mom's recovery, mom and baby can room together 24 hours a day, in their cozy home away from home. Dad can visit anytime or remain with mom and baby throughout their stay if he chooses. Visitors are welcome to stop by, but will need to be allowed into the secure birthing center after checking in at the nurses station. Finally, if mom needs to rest, the nursing staff is available to take care of the baby in the nursery.
Our nursing staff and certified instructors will spend time teaching mom how to care for her new baby to make the transition from hospital to home comfortable and secure. It is our hope that new moms will take advantage of this time to be nurtured, cared for, and taught.
